My new roommate moves in tomorrow. She is from Denmark, and admitted to Facebook stalking all of her future roommates Thursday night, while not actually adding us as friends. DF: You think it's gonna be a good party weekend? I'll be in NJ until Sunday or possibly Monday, but then the District.
Me: I don't know. Most DC people are just scared of what this weekend will bring.
DF: So funny cause this kind of thing happens in NY all the time. Then again, 8 million people versus 500k.
DF: It would be like if 32 million people came to New York
DF: I calculated that using my phone's 'Fun Tools.'
Me: NYC is not the clusterfuck of inefficiency that DC is.
Me: You normally have people drinking til 4am. This is new for us. And your public transit system can get tourists around the city without self-destructing. Metro can barely go a rush hour without a fuck up. This is a city where Marion Barry still holds elected office.
DF: Haha yeah. DC will be destroyed... once and for all.

Joblessness Perspective
By comparison, the 2.6 million jobs lost in 2008 nationwide were equal to the number of jobs found in states such as Wisconsin, Missouri or Maryland.

Additionally, the number of jobs reported lost in December is like if everybody in D.C. lost their job, not just those with jobs, but according to the 2006 census, just about everybody.

It’s official, work will be twittering the inauguration. Because I’m unbelievably unimportant not only will I be able to get away without having to twat anything, I get that day off.

This is a stupid, personal gripe, but I already spend part of everyday that I’m at work reading press releases.
This morning we received one about an interview with an actress that has a “GREAT LOCAL ANGLE!!!” That great local angle? A bold sentence that tells you that an nationwide event is also happening in your area, without any specifics, and of course the actress...
